Our mission

In recent years, Aikido has become very popular, and is being practiced by more and more people around the world. But popularity has its negative side too. Because there are many Aikido instructors, quality of instruction varies. The traditional form of Aikido, which aimed to efficiently eliminate opponents' attacks, is often being deformed. In many Aikido schools, Aikido resembles more to dancing than to a martial art. Mainly, it's because the trainers often focuse more on the polishing of the physical movements than self-defense skills.

In our Dojos we teach Aikido based on the interpretation of Nobuyoshi Tamura, 8th Dan, who is a long-term student of Aikido's founder, Morihei Ueshiba. At the present time, Nobuyoshi Tamura is considered the world's greatest authority on Aikido. His teaching art maintains the original elements of traditional Aikido and focuses on effective defense against attacks. The practice of this more than 70 years old man of subtle stature is the best evidence of the fact, that Aikido becomes more useful with time - the experience acquired by the long-term training can be an effective defense against significantly stronger attackers.

An important of the training is fostering self-discipline, conceptual thinking and positive attitude to physical activity and wellness. Our training aims to relieve daily stress and to help the body to actively regenerate and gain new strengths. We view participating in Aikido as a great opportunity to enjoy time with the people that have similar points of view and goals. Many of our trainees get together at various other opportunities all the year round.

Regularly, our association prepares various undertakings like the Aikido camps with foreign instructors, the recruitments of the new club members and the technical skills exams.

Aikido camps with foreign instructors always take place on weekends, so everybody has got the opportunity to improve their skills. At these camps, not only do our own school members participate, but we also jave participant from other countries (Czech republic, Hungary, Poland, Austria, France, Turkey, etc.). Nevertheless, the most important event organized by our associations is the 1-week Aikido summer camp with Nebi Vural, 6th Dan, who acts as a long-term uchideshi of Nobuyoshi Tamura. This summer-holiday camp already became a tradition and almost everybody is looking for it. It's a combination of Aikido training and a 1-week holiday amid the mountains. The trainees can enjoy the time with the teacher and their friends.

For the people interested in Aikido, recruitment drives are being organized. They always take place at the beginning of the training seasons - such as during school mid-term breaks, typically in September and February. After a recruitment drive, cadets are lead by a dedicated instructor, so they are well prepared for more difficult movements later on. Having passed the first exam after the first half-year, they join the more advanced trainees and new recruits fill their places.

Technical skill exams provide a good opportunity for trainees to test their level of capabilities. They take part each half year and having them passed, the trainees gain the higher technical level (kyu). Having reached the highest kyu level, the mastership level exams follow. The mastership level exam committee is lead personally by Nobuyoshi Tamura, in most cases it takes part outwards and it is is watched by a large number of observers and spectators. As such an exam is a presentation of our practice level, the exam preparation is considered to be very important.
